Switching to CTC AC292 Sensor: A Success Story for JPS Reliability

JPS Reliability recently faced a critical challenge when monitoring a crucial process water pump motor operating on a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). The competitive sensor they were using for their route data struggled to provide consistent and accurate data due to electrical noise interference. Since this water pump supplies process cooling water for a critical production unit, JPS Reliability decided to explore alternative sensors and made the decision to switch to CTC's AC292 Sensor.

The AC292 sensor is known for its robust performance in high-noise environments and is ideal for providing high-quality data in both permanent installations and portable routes. Specification highlights of the AC292 accelerometer include:

  • Frequency Response of 18-900,000 CPM (± 3 dB)
  • Temperature Range of -58 to 250 °F (-50 to 121 °C)
  • Welded, Hermetic Sealing
  • Superior RF Immunity in a Compact, 100 mV/g Sensor

The proof is in the data! Check out the remarkable improvements the AC292 brought to JPS Reliability's critical equipment monitoring process:

AC292 Field Use Case Study
Historically, JPS Reliability experienced issues in collecting data from a particular motor on a Variable Frequency Drive. The electrical noise overloaded the sensor and resulted in high-velocity readings.

To combat this problem, JPS Reliability recently updated all of their route-based accelerometers to CTC's AC292-1D. Now they are able to take measurements of this problematic motor, which showcases the superior quality construction of CTC accelerometers.
