Using Spot Face Tools for Precise Vibration Sensor Installations
When it comes to permanently installing vibration sensors or mounting pads for various applications, ensuring a flat and even surface is paramount. A spot face tool is an invaluable instrument that helps create a level mounting surface, helping to ensure accurate sensor readings and optimal performance.
CTC's MH117 Series are sensor installation tool kits that feature a combination of four-fluted spot face and drill bit assembly that allow you to drill and spot face your mounting location at the same time. The four-fluted spot face tool design provides a better cutting performance, more accurate spot face, and smoother surface finish than two-fluted tools. The combined spot face toll & drill bit assembly makes preparing your mounting surface easy and efficient.
For stud-mounted sensors, simply set the drill depth according to the number of threads you wish to tap. Utilizing a 500 RPM Right Angle Drill, carefully drill and spot face the location, then tap threads.
To prepare the surface of a machine for adhesive mounting pads, simply back the drill depth off to a minimum and use the tool to prepare a clean, flat surface to adhere to.
